الإجابة المختصرة

Qatar Airways offers the smallest Gulf detour outside the UAE, flying Doha to Cape Town and Johannesburg daily; Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman connect through Doha or Dubai in 12-15 hours total. Study visas for courses over 90 days are lodged at VFS in Kuwait City, Doha, Manama or Muscat and take 8-12 weeks. All-in three-month budgets sit between $4,200 and $6,500 per student.

Getting there

From Doha, Qatar Airways flies non-stop to both Cape Town and Johannesburg in roughly nine and a half hours. From Kuwait City, Manama and Muscat the practical routing is a short hop to Doha or Dubai and then one long leg south. Book the southbound leg to arrive on a weekday morning: most schools run their placement test and orientation on Mondays, and arriving Sunday evening means starting the course rested.

Where to apply for the visa

South Africa is represented in all four countries, with visa intake handled by VFS Global. Kuwaiti, Qatari, Bahraini and Omani nationals are visa-exempt for short visits, which tempts families to fly on a visitor permit and 'sort it out later'. Do not: in-country status changes are restricted and a refusal ends the trip. Start the study visa four to five months out.

Smaller cohorts, better attention

Students from Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman are a smaller share of enrolments than Saudis, which is an advantage: you are unlikely to end up in a class where everyone speaks your language. Ask schools directly for the nationality mix in your intake month, and prefer schools that cap classes at 12.

أسئلة تطرحها العائلات

الأسئلة الشائعة

Is there a direct flight from Kuwait?

No. The fastest routing is Kuwait City to Doha or Dubai, then one non-stop leg to Cape Town or Johannesburg.

Can families visit during the course?

Yes, on a visitor permit. Many parents combine a mid-course visit with a Garden Route or safari trip during the school's mid-term break.

What is the best month to start?

February to May and September to November: mild weather, lower prices and quieter classes than the December-January peak.
