# Can you work while studying English abroad? 2026 country rules

## The trap of funding rent with hoped-for hours

Schools sometimes hint that students 'usually find a café job'. That is not a visa condition. If work is illegal, the job puts the visa at risk. If work is legal, hours still fail in expensive cities. Build the budget with zero wages, then treat work as optional.

## Cape Town when you do not need a job
